Environmental awareness is to understand how fragile our environment is and the importance of protecting it. When learning about the environment’s declining health it is easy to feel discouraged, but what keeps us fighting for a healthy world is the future of our children. They should not have to inherit our environmental problems and in order to keep their future bright, spreading awareness is imperative.

Curaçao Clean Up Foundation has partnered up with GreenKidz Foundation to boarden the reach on education on environmental awereness in schools.

Worldwide, especially among young people  there is a growing interest in the broad theme of 'Green' which includes various elements of environmental, healthly living and sustainability. GreenKidz focuses on these topics with a three-year project. Greenkidz encourages local schoolchildren ages 9 to 12 years to carry a responsible lifestyle and keeps a healthy school environment to actively contribute to a greener, cleaner and healthier Curaçao.

To achieve their goals, they annually develop modern "green" lesson programs, which are tought by GreenKidz volunteer guest lecturers . These are supported by a bilingual website (Papiamentu / Dutch), a GreenKidz Magazine and a GreenKidz Award where an annual GreenKidz party is awarded.

In their projects they strive not to overload schools but on the contrary support schools, by providing all the GreenKidz materials permanently and free of charge to reach their goals. GreenKidz targets all 50 FO (middle) schools in Curaçao and approximately 8,000 pupils. They hereby work closely with all school boards and local green experts. In year one 5 pilot schools were selected. In year two this grew to 20 Schools and in year 3 GreenKidz lessons will be provided by guest lecturers in all 50 FO (middle) Schools . All digital teaching and reading materials are also free from day one and shared on their online library.

MOVING TOWARDS A GREENER, CLEANER AND HEALTHIER CURAÇAO!

WE DO NOT INHERT THE WORLD FROM OUR ANCESTORS, WE BORROW IT FROM OUR CHILDREN.
